TAKING STEPS TO RECOVERY
Our DBSA Roland Park Chapter is a local affiliate of the national nonprofit, The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, DBSA. Our mission is to improve the lives of people with mood disorders, depression and bipolar disorder, and of their families and friends.
We currently provide two support groups in Baltimore City and one in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County. At these regularly scheduled meetings, group members share experiences and challenges that we meet currently related to our mood disorders. Other group members may contribute a clarifying question or brief feedback. Generally each attendee has the opportunity to speak or may choose to simply listen. A facilitator trained by DBSA and following DBSA guidelines moderates each meeting. These facilitators also have first hand experience as a person with a mood disorder or as a family member.
The goal of our support group meetings is to provide hope, help, education and resources related to living well, even thriving, while living daily with a mood disorder. We enjoy a sense of community and as we grow, learn that we still have the creativity and humor we may think we have lost.
